As someone who watched both, the movie 'Mugen Train' continues right after Season 1 and is vital to the storyline. Season 2 picks up from there but goes into a new arc. Definitely watch the movie first!

Nope, they're not the same! The movie, 'Mugen Train,' is a direct sequel to Season 1 and covers the Mugen Train Arc. Season 2, however, kicks off with the Entertainment District Arc and expands the story further. So, if you skip the movie, you'll miss some key plot points!
