The Holy Grail of rare Pokemon cards is definitely the Pikachu Illustrator card. Only a handful of these were given out to winners of a drawing contest in Japan back in the '90s. If you've got one of those, you're sitting on a goldmine! Another super rare card is the Shadowless Charizard, especially in first edition. It's basically the dream card for collectors due to its iconic status and the nostalgia factor.

Gotta say, the rarest cards aren't always the oldest! Sure, the Pikachu Illustrator card is like finding a unicorn, but there are new releases that are super rare too. For instance, the Master's Key prize card from the 2010 World Championships is insanely rare and valuable. Also, any first edition Base Set card in mint condition can fetch a pretty penny.

Honestly, all this talk about rare cards, but it's all about what you love collecting. Sure, Pikachu Illustrator and first edition Charizards are worth a ton, but finding a card that completes your personal collection can feel just as valuable.

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
