In The Outer Worlds, Earth is left behind as corporations focus on outer space colonies. Earth is basically a distant memory.
Earth got ghosted by the corporations, everyone's focus is on Halcyon now. It's like when you forget your old password and move on.
No one knows! Earth just kinda dropped out of the picture while everyone got busy colonizing space.
