What happened to Kabuto in Naruto Shippuden?

Kabuto went through a major transformation! He ended up merging with Orochimaru's remains, acquiring Snake Sage powers, and later became an important player in the Fourth Great Ninja War. Eventually, Itachi 'Izuna' (reanimated) used Izanami on him, making him realize the error of his ways. He then found peace and started working to atone for his actions.

I remember Kabuto going off the deep end after Orochimaru's death. He went full mad scientist, experimenting on himself until he became an even bigger threat. After Itachi trapped him in an endless loop of self-realization, Kabuto came to his senses and started working at an orphanage, trying to make amends for his past.

Kabuto basically turned into a super snake/ninja hybrid after absorbing Orochimaru's powers and got pretty crazy. Itachi finally put him in his place using Izanami, making Kabuto realize he needed to change his ways.
