The best pickaxe in Terraria, hands down, is the Luminite Pickaxes, which includes the Solar Flare Pickaxe, Vortex Pickaxe, Nebula Pickaxe, and Stardust Pickaxe. They all have the same pickaxe power but differ in design and side perks. To get one, you gotta beat the Moon Lord and use the Luminite he drops.

I'm gonna say the DCU (Drill Containment Unit) because not only does it mine at insane speeds, it's also a rideable drill mount. You need it just for the flex. Plus, mining becomes a breeze.

IMHO, the best pickaxe isn't the point; it's how you use it. But, if you're looking for sheer power, go for the Luminite Pickaxes post-Moon Lord. Nothing beats them in the game.
