What is the Light Test for Pokemon Cards?

The light test is a method used to help determine if a Pokemon card is genuine or fake. To do it, you hold the card up to a bright light. A real Pokemon card has a specific kind of layering that will show some light passing through, but not too much. If the light passes through easily, like with regular paper, it's likely a fake. Remember, though, it's just one of many tests and not always 100% foolproof!

Light test? Just don鈥檛. If you're really into Pokemon cards, invest in a good magnifying glass or get them checked by a pro. The light test might give you a clue, but it's so easy to get fooled by good fakes these days.

Used the light test once on a card I swore was real. Turned out fake. It鈥檚 a handy trick, but don鈥檛 rely on it alone. Always check card texture and printing quality too.

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
