First edition Pokémon cards have a specific mark that sets them apart: look for a tiny, black 'Edition 1' symbol located directly below the bottom left corner of the Pokémon image on the card. This symbol is your golden ticket to identifying a true first edition! Also, don't confuse it with the shadowless cards; those are different because they lack the drop shadow on the right side of the image box but might not necessarily be first edition.

Easy peasy - first edition Pokémon cards shout it from the rooftops with a '1st Edition' stamp beneath the picture on the left. If it ain't got the stamp, it ain't first edition. Simple as that!

Honestly, not all that. Most first edition cards are just regular cards with a tiny stamp. People go nuts over them, but unless you're a hardcore collector or looking to sell, it's just another Pokémon card.

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you’re wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
