The first ever Pokemon card features Pikachu! Well, not exactly. The real deal is the Pikachu Illustrator card, which is super rare and was given to winners of a drawing contest in Japan back in 1998. But in terms of mass production, it's all about that Base Set, released in 1996, with Bulbasaur often being one of the first in the lineup given its #001 spot in the Pokedex.

Actually, it's all about the Electabuzz card. This baby was part of the first promotional set released in cinemas alongside the first Pokemon movie. So, if we're talking about which card got out there first in some special way, Electabuzz deserves a mention!

Gotta throw a curveball here and say it's technically none. The first 'printed' materials were part of a game called Capsule Monsters before Pokemon TCG was even a thing. But if we're sticking to the TCG, then it's the Base Set, and Bulbasaur is one of the first by Pokedex and release order.

Bulbasaur, no question. It's #001 in the Pokedex and was part of the very first Base Set. How can you argue with the Pokedex?

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
