What's the Difference Between Holo and Shiny Pokemon Cards?

Holo cards, short for holographic, have a specific part of the card (usually the picture of the Pokémon) that shines and reflects light. It's all about the bling effect when you tilt them! On the flip side (pun intended), shiny Pokémon cards feature Pokémon with a color variation different from their usual appearance. These rare beauties are not just about the sparkle but about catching a Pokémon in a unique hue - like finding a needle in a haystack but way cooler.

Shinies are basically the unicorns of the Pokémon world. Catching a shiny in the wild (or pulling one from a pack) is like hitting the jackpot. Meanwhile, holo cards are your everyday sparkle - still cool but not as rare.

Holo cards = sparkle party on the card. Shiny Pokémon = rare color variant of the Pokémon itself. One's about the card's shiny look, the other is about the Pokémon's rare colors.

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you’re wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
