Shiny Pokémon cards and holographic cards both glimmer, but for diff reasons! Shiny cards feature Pokémon in rare, alternate color schemes - think of them as the rare Pokémon you hunt in the games. Holographic cards, on the other hand, have a special shimmering effect on part of the card, like the background or the Pokémon itself, making 'em look super cool when they catch the light.

Shiny = Rare color version. Holo = Sparkly part. Easy peasy.

Simply put, all shiny cards are special but not all holographic cards are shiny. Shiny is all about the color swap of the Pokémon, and holographic is that sparkle effect. So, a shiny card is like finding a unicorn, but a holographic card is more like catching every rainbow.

Honestly, people get too hung up on the differences. Just collect what makes you happy!

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you’re wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
