The 1999 Hunter x Hunter anime finishes at episode 62, which covers up to the end of the Yorknew City arc. The 2011 series continues the story!

From personal experience, the original series ends with the Yorknew City arc climax. Switching to the 2011 anime after that worked perfectly for me!
