Just build a base near the ocean cliffs. Seagulls will come to you, and you can easily farm them for feathers. I've done it and it works great!

You can also get feathers by chopping down pine trees in the Black Forest. Sometimes, you'll find a few in the fallen branches.

Spend some nights in the Meadows. Notice all the birds? Yeah, just take them out when they land. Easy pickings!
