Check out the Mountain Island! You can find diamonds lying around on the surface or in shale outcrops. Just watch out for Leviathans.

Head to the Mushroom Forest biome and search for shale outcrops on the seafloor. They're pretty common there!

Honestly, just go to the Jellyshroom Cave. It's loaded with shale outcrops and you'll get diamonds pretty quickly. Bring a Seamoth, though.
