Pokemon cards have skyrocketed in price lately for a few reasons. First, the nostalgia factor is huge – adults now have spending power to recapture their childhood. Plus, with celebrities and influencers showing off their collections, demand has surged. Limited edition releases and rare cards are especially sought after, making their prices go through the roof. The pandemic also played a role, as more folks picked up collecting as a hobby during lockdowns.

As someone who's been collecting since the 90s, it's not just about the cards themselves but the story they tell. Rare cards like the First Edition Charizard aren't just pieces of cardboard; they're memories, achievements, and for some, investments. Their value isn't just in the physical card but what it represents to the collector.

Supply and demand, plain and simple. Everyone wants the rare cards, and there aren't enough to go around.

Honestly, it's a bubble. Prices are high because people are willing to pay, not because the cards are worth that much. It'll burst eventually.

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you’re wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
