Eren Jaeger? Yeah, that's pretty German. The series takes a lot of Western cultural elements, making it more unique in the anime world.

It's because the creator, Hajime Isayama, was inspired by European architecture and culture. Plus, German names often sound pretty epic in a battle cry, right?

Because Germans are awesome! Seriously though, the series borrows heavily from European culture and history, which includes German influences.

The setting of Attack on Titan is inspired by a mix of European cultures, so German names fit right in!

Attack on Titan draws a lot of its inspiration from Germanic and European cultures! Even the name of the main city, Shiganshina, has a distinct German ring to it.
