The hiatus happened because Yoshihiro Togashi, the creator, has severe back pain. He needs time to recover before continuing the series.

Hunter x Hunter went on hiatus mainly due to the health issues of its creator, Yoshihiro Togashi. He's had back problems that make it hard for him to work consistently.

I heard Togashi was super committed to ensuring high quality and struggled with health, so he opted for breaks rather than lower standards. Respect.

Togashi-sensei had some pretty serious health problems, forcing him to take breaks to heal. We鈥檙e just waiting for his epic comeback!
