They stopped releasing Hunter x Hunter episodes because the manga creator, Yoshihiro Togashi, has recurring health issues, which delayed the manga's progress. No manga, no anime!

From what I've read, it鈥檚 mainly because Yoshihiro Togashi suffers from chronic health issues, making it hard for him to keep up with the manga.
