Season 2 is hated because it felt like filler. The characters and story didn't match the beloved vibe of the first season.
Black Butler Season 2 deviates significantly from the manga, introducing new characters and plotlines that many fans felt weren't as strong or cohesive. Also, the original manga characters didn't appear as much, which left fans disappointed.
As someone who's watched it, I'd say Season 2 lacked the charm and dark mystery that made the first season magical. The new characters couldn't live up to Ciel and Sebastian!
