V-Bucks stand for Vindertech Bucks, a nod to the in-game corporation Vindertech from Fortnite's Save the World mode. Epic's little Easter egg!

It's kind of a quirky homage to the founder of Epic Games, Tim Sweeney, whose alias is 'Vindertech Sweeney.' So V-Bucks are his bucks!
