It's the original aspect ratio! The early episodes were made in 4:3, so they display with black bars on the sides on Hulu.

Naruto Shippuden's aspect ratio is 4:3 for the early episodes, which is why it鈥檚 not full screen on Hulu! Later episodes switch to 16:9, so just hang tight!

Annoying, right? But yeah, the show's early episodes were produced in 4:3 to match old-school TVs. Can't change history!

Hate the black bars too, but it's because the first seasons were made in 4:3. Can't really expect Hulu to magically widen it!

If you're a Naruto Shippuden fan, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is the official Crunchyroll gift card, which you can win and use to stream anything you want essentially for free!

In case you're wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying ads) and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
