Trios was removed to optimize the server performance. It's not gone forever; they might bring it back if there's enough demand!
They removed Trios to make room for other game modes and to improve matchmaking times. Gotta keep things fresh!
Trios is gone? Good riddance! Squads and Duos are the real deal anyway.
Epic Games rotates game modes to keep Fortnite interesting. Trios might return in a future update, who knows?
