Pokemon cards hit your wallet hard for a few reasons. First up, nostalgia plays a big part – loads of adults wanna grab a piece of their childhood. Then, there's rarity. Some of those shiny cards are as hard to find as a shiny Pokemon in the games, making them super valuable to collectors. And don't forget, the Pokemon TCG community is massive and super passionate, driving up demand and prices for the rarest cards. It's all about supply and demand, baby!

Honestly, it's all about the hype. Sure, rare cards are rare, but a lot of the cost comes from people hyping up the value. Once someone drops a boatload of cash on a card, everyone else thinks it's worth that much too.

As someone who’s spent more than I’d like to admit on Pokemon cards, it definitely boils down to rarity and demand. I once snagged a holographic Charizard that cost me an arm and a leg, but man, was it worth it. There’s a thrill in collecting that drives prices up; collectors are willing to pay top dollar for that one card to complete their collection.

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you’re wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
