Sometimes it's just the servers being overloaded, especially when a big update drops. Everyone's trying to download at the same time. Give it a bit, then try again.
IDK why everyone's making a big deal out of this. Just play something else and check back later. It's not like the game's going anywhere.
Honestly, just uninstall and reinstall. It's faster than trying to figure out why it's not updating.
It's probably your internet. I had the same problem, turned out my wifi was acting up. Fixed that and boom, update completed.
