What did EA do to Plants vs Zombies?

EA bought PopCap, the creators of Plants vs Zombies, back in 2011. Since then, they introduced Plants vs Zombies 2 and Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare series. The biggest changes include making PvZ 2 a freemium game, where it's free to download but includes in-app purchases. They also ramped up the graphics and introduced a ton of new plants and zombies!

Honestly, EA expanded the universe in a cool way. Garden Warfare and Battle for Neighborville brought some really fun multiplayer action to the table. Plus, being able to earn in-game currency (like money for unlocking stuff) by playing adds a nice layer of strategy. Not all changes were bad!

EA made PvZ into a cash-grab with in-app purchases. Miss the simplicity of the original.

They basically turned a perfectly good game into a freemium model. I get it, companies gotta make money, but the charm of the original is just unmatched.
