1280x960 stretched is the way to go, trust me. It's the sweet spot that gives you a bit more visibility without making everything look too chunky. Been playing with this res for years and it's a game changer.

All these pros talking about low res for higher FPS are missing out. If your PC can handle it, 1920x1080 is where it's at. Why play a beautiful game like CS:GO looking like you're back in the 2000s? Sharper images, better visibility, and it's just more enjoyable.
