As of my last check, you can transfer a bunch of Pokemon from previous games to Scarlet and Violet, but it's mainly limited to those that are in the Paldea region's Pokedex. Keep an eye on updates from the Pokemon Home app, as they often expand the list of transferable Pokemon over time. And remember, certain special or event Pokemon might have restrictions!

Managed to transfer my shiny Bidoof from Pokemon Sword directly to Violet. It was a proud moment. Make sure your Pokemon are in the Pokemon Home app, and you’re good to go for most that are in the Scarlet and Violet Pokedex.
