You can start trading in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet as soon as you get access to the Poke Portal in the game. This usually happens after you've gotten your starter Pokemon and completed the tutorial missions, which doesn't take too long. So, you're looking at being able to trade with friends or online pretty early on in your adventure!
