XP reduction in CS:GO usually happens because you've hit the weekly XP bonus limit. The game rewards you with a certain amount of bonus XP for your first few matches of the week, and after you use that up, the XP you earn will decrease significantly. It's Valve's way of combating bots and smurfs, encouraging you to play consistently rather than all at once!

Short and kinda sweet: it's the weekly limit, buddy. CS:GO doesn't want you farming XP like there's no tomorrow.

Been there, felt that frustration! It's all about the weekly bonus cap. Once you hit it, your XP gains drop faster than my rank after a losing streak. Basically, the game says 'take a break, or keep playing for fun, not for grind.'
