Nope, you can't connect AirPods directly to a PS4. But you can use a Bluetooth adapter to make it work!

Yeah, you can connect them, but you need a third-party Bluetooth dongle plugged into your PS4. It's a bit of a workaround.

You can't do it natively, Sony doesn't support it.

Just get a Bluetooth adapter and you're good to go. I've done it and it works fine for me!
