Yep! Just go to Settings > Account Management > Privacy Settings > Personal Info | Messaging, and set your messages to 'No One'. Voila, no more auto messages!

Yeah, you can disable it. Head to the privacy settings in your PSN account and block messages from strangers. Easy peasy.
