Actually, you can't. Steam Points are purely for cosmetic items and community awards. Tried it once hoping to get a discount on a game, but no dice.

Nope, you can't use Steam Points to directly buy games. Steam Points are for buying cosmetics like profile backgrounds, emoticons, and for some community features like awarding posts. Think of them as a way to fancy up your profile and show some love in the community, not for snagging the latest game.

Sadly, no. Steam Points are more about flair than utility. Can't buy games or DLC with them, but you can make your profile pretty snazzy.
