Nope, only if you're looking to hunt with buddies online. Solo hunts don’t need PS Plus.

You only need PSN for the multiplayer features. Solo play doesn't require it.

I’ve played Monster Hunter solo on my PS4 without PSN, but I had to get PS Plus to team up with my friends. Worth it for the co-op action!
