Yep, if you installed a game from a disc, you still need the disc to play it. It's basically your key to access the game.
Nope, you can't just install and toss the disc. Need it every time you play.
From personal experience, once I install a PS5 game from a disc, I always need to pop the disc back in to play. Annoying, but it is what it is!
