From personal experience, I found out you need to get in touch with PlayStation Support to delete your account. Did it last month - they were really helpful!
Deleting your PSN account is not something you can do yourself online. You need to reach out to PlayStation Support and request it. Be prepared that it’s a one-way street - no going back!
You can't delete your PSN account through the console settings. Contact PlayStation Support and they'll help you. Just remember, there's no undo button!
