To add friends on PS3, just go to the 'Friends' menu on the XMB (cross-media bar), select 'Add a Friend,' and then enter your friend's PSN ID. Easy-peasy!

Head to the 'Friends' column on the XMB, choose 'Add a Friend,' type your buddy's PSN ID, and send the request. You both need to be online to accept friend requests.
