Catching bugs in Animal Crossing is pretty simple but requires a bit of patience and stealth. First, you gotta get yourself a net from Tom Nook's shop. Once you've got your hands on that net, find a bug chilling around your island. Sneak up on them by holding the A button to ready your net, then let it loose when you're close enough. Remember, different bugs appear at different times and places, so keep an eye out and be ready to pounce!
