The game's development probably kicked off around 2017 or so, making it about 5 years in the making before it launched in 2023. That's a pretty standard timeframe for high-quality, open-world RPGs these days. Plus, no microtransactions mean they focused all that time on making the game as enchanting as possible, instead of figuring out ways to nickel and dime us.
