Why bother with a custom boot? Boot animations are fun, but playing games is where the Steam Deck shines. Enjoy the games!

You can change the Steam Deck boot animation by placing your desired animation files into the `/usr/share/plymouth/themes/` directory. Go into desktop mode for easy access.

To change the Steam Deck boot animation, you鈥檒l need to access the SteamOS files. Hook up a USB keyboard, reboot the Steam Deck, and enter desktop mode. Navigate to `/usr/lib/plymouth/themes/`, replace the existing file with your custom animation, then reboot. Boom, new boot animation!

First-hand experience here! Download the custom boot animation, enter desktop mode, and move it to `/usr/share/plymouth/themes/`. Replace the old one, and you're good to go. It worked like a charm for me!

If you're a Steam player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is the official Steam gift card, which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
