From personal experience, just tap the magnifying glass icon, then tap the search bar. You'll see 'Clear All' on the right - hit that, and your search history is gone!
Settings > Security > Clear Search History. Takes like 5 seconds.
The fastest way: open the search tab, tap the search bar, then 'See All,' and 'Clear All.' Done and done.
