If the USB cable trick doesn't work, press and hold the PS button on the controller for a few seconds. That usually does the trick!

Honestly, just get a new controller. PS3 ones are ancient and prone to problems.

No USB cable? You can always use a wireless adapter to connect it to your PC or another device.

Just plug it into the PS3 using a USB cable! It'll start charging automatically and connect to the console.
