To delete your PS4 account, go to Settings > Login Settings > User Management > Delete User. Select the account you want to remove and confirm. Easy peasy!

First-hand experience here: Head to Settings, scroll down to Login Settings, then User Management, and finally Delete User. Make sure you back up any data you want to keep because this process is final!
