You can turn off bonds by editing the game's .ini files, specifically `DefaultGameData.ini`. Set `bEnableBonds` to `false`. Remember to back up your files first!

Editing the `XComGameData.ini` file in the `XCom2asegamein` folder and setting `EnableBonds` to `false` should do the trick. Did it myself and it works perfectly!
