To perform a cover change, have a character with cover change abilities and switch them in when your current character is being attacked. Look for units with “Cover Change” in their abilities list!
Press the switch button at the right moment during an enemy's attack to activate the cover change, but only some characters can do it.
Just push the switch button during an attack, and hope for the best! Timing and character abilities are key.
