How to get a companion in Fallout 76
Actually, there's a workaround for the companion vibe in Fallout 76. You can get yourself some pets! To do this, you need the Animal Friend or Wasteland Whisperer perks activated. These perks let you tame creatures in the wild, which can then act as your base defenders. Not exactly a companion to follow you around, but hey, a pet Yao Guai is pretty cool.

Sorry to break it to you, but you can't get a traditional NPC companion in Fallout 76 like in previous Fallout games. Fallout 76 focuses on multiplayer interactions, meaning your companions are real players! Team up with friends or join teams with other vault dwellers out there.
Fallout 76 doesn't have companions, it's all about that multiplayer experience. So grab a friend, or make new ones in-game!
