You'll find green wood by cutting down Koa trees in the swamp. It's a bit tricky to get there, but totally worth it.
From my countless hours in-game, the green wood comes from Koa trees located in the swamp. Best bring a sturdy axe and a big truck!
Don't bother with Koa trees. Just trade with other players who have already harvested it. Saves time!
