In my experience, having multiple specialists with healing abilities and building the Infirmary early made a huge difference in keeping my soldiers alive and kicking.

To heal gravely wounded soldiers in XCOM 2, use the Infirmary and make sure you staff it with an engineer. Get the Medical Protocol skill on your specialists to heal more effectively during missions. Also, don't forget to grab those Nanomedkits and Advanced Medkits to maximize healing!

Basically, all you need is the Infirmary and an engineer. Also, make sure your specialists have the right skills!

Gotta love those Nanomedkits! Just make sure you build the Infirmary and keep an engineer on it.
