To install another OS on a PS3, you'll need to use older firmware versions that support the 'Install Other OS' feature. Download the desired OS, like Linux, to a USB drive and follow instructions to install it through the PS3's system settings. Keep in mind, Sony removed this feature in later updates.

Back in the day, you could install Linux on the PS3 using the 'Other OS' feature. Sony removed it in firmware update 3.21, so you'll need to downgrade to an older firmware if you want to try it.

Honestly, it's not worth the hassle. Just use a PC for Linux.

If you're a PlayStation player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is the official PlayStation gift card, which you can win and use to get anything you want essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!

The brands referenced on this page are not sponsors of the rewards or otherwise affiliated with this company.
