From my experience, you hit level 5 first, head to the nearest gym, and boom鈥擯rofessor Willow pops up to ask you to pick a team. Go with your gut (or whichever color matches your vibe)!
Get to level 5, find a gym, and then choose your team. Mystic's known for research, Valor's about strength, and Instinct loves those hatches!
