To put your PS3 in recovery mode, start by turning off the console completely. Hold down the power button until you hear three beeps, which should take about 10 seconds. The system will turn off again. Press and hold the power button once more until you hear two short beeps, and the system should boot into recovery mode.

Make sure the PS3 is completely powered off. Press and hold the power button until you hear three beeps, then release and hold again until you hear two quick beeps. Boom, recovery mode!
