Just use a SATA-to-USB adapter and run Linux on your PC. PS3 hard drives use a file system that Windows can't recognize, but Linux should be able to read it no problem!

Forget it, Windows can't read PS3 hard drives natively. Better option? Just back up your data on the PS3 itself.
